2023 In Review
As we enter the new year I am praying that the Lord will bless you and your family with His presence, protection and guidance. This very well might be the year that our Lord will return to gather His people and set up His glorious Kingdom!
I want to thank all of you that have joined hands with Barnabas1040 Missions to help reach those who have the least opportunity to hear the gospel. By God’s grace our ministry grew as we added new church planting pastors in various locations across SE Asia and Africa. It was also encouraging to see some of the older churches become indigenous which freed up funds to take on new pastors in other areas.
The biblical example set by the Apostle Paul is for missionaries to start churches and as soon as possible turn them over to nationals. Our ministry is a help to missionaries by providing finances that they need to release their national pastors to plant new churches.
Barnabas1040 was launched through the Liberty Baptist Church in Newport Beach, CA in October of 2015 and we are now working with 30 missionaries in 20 countries. Those 30 missionaries provide mentoring and accountability for more than 100 national pastors as they plant churches among their own people. Many of those nationals are pastoring churches where it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for a foreigner to minister.
2023 saw almost 9,000 professions of faith and more than 1,000 new believers baptized. The missionaries send me a quarterly report of people who are saved and baptized into the membership of a local church. Here are the reports for 2023.
Ist Quarter: 1,881 Professions of Faith, 270 Baptisms.
2nd Quarter: 2,500 Professions of Faith, 464 Baptisms.
3rd Quarter: 2,190 Professions of Faith, 272 Baptisms.
4th Quarter: 2,266 Professions of Faith, 300 Baptisms.
2023 Totals: 8,837 Professions of Faith, 1,306 Baptisms.
2023 was a busy year with missions conferences primarily in America, but I was still able to make visits to 3 foreign countries. Those trips enabled us to add new national pastors to our growing family. In November and December alone we added 7 new men in Uganda, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and the Philippines.
My plan is to allocate more time to SE Asia in 2024. In fact, as you read this email, Lord willing I will be in the Philippines.
As always I want to take a moment in closing to express my gratitude to all of our dear partners who support this ministry through finances or prayers. You mean more to Gayle and me than we can express. We know that were it not for God’s grace and your help, this miracle ministry would not exist. To God be the Glory!
God Bless you!
